It seems DJ’s are more prevalent than ever. Many dream and even attempt to master the skill and lifestyle; Some work with artists, some get club residencies, some tour with artists, some become 3LAU/Tiesto/Hardwell/Armin Van Buuren, and most go back to their day job.
This weekend, Saturday, June 15th, the fourth annual BOOM DJ Battle will be held at Chicago’s largest all ages summer concert, the B96 Bash. Eight contestants from the ages of 14-17 and 19-21 years old will battle it out for the champion title.
Contestants will be judged on stage performance, programming/crowd reaction, and technical ability. Opposed to previous years, contestants are now allowed the right to use any gear of their choosing to be free with their creativity. The battle will be judged by 2013 Red Bull Thre3Style U.S. Champion, DJ Trentino and DJ Flipside & Marquee from the Jump Smokers and a few others. Over $20,000 in prizes, a guest mix on B96, a music industry workshop scholarship, and a meet& greet with Afrojack are on the line along with the title.
Last years battle had over 5,000 people in attendance and the numbers for this year are sure to beat it. Whether you’re in attendance or missing out, be sure to follow the battle via twitter: #BOOMDJBATTLE
