I am on to my next adventure. I am now currently interning with the Cincinnati Ballet’s Marketing/Communications Department. I’ve been here for about 3 weeks and I am absolutely LOVING it. I have already been able to work on some projects that will be extremely beneficial to my future career in Public Relations. Last week, I turned in my final revisions of a press release for Frisch’s Presents the Nutcracker and a radio spot for ALICE (in wonderland). My radio spot is currently being looked over by higher-ups for approval. I can’t tell you how rewarding it will be to hear something I wrote broadcast on the radio for all to hear!
It has been very educational writing for the CB. It’s interesting to see how different organizations writing styles are. For example, many of the press releases I have written at NKU were started out with the most important information and went straight to the point. Although CB starts out with the most important information, all of their pieces are very detailed and are very story-like. I like it because I’ve always worked hard to be a detailed write and I felt as though I was held back in my journalism and some of my PR classes.
This morning I was able to attend my first marketing meeting. I was so nervous because even though I left on time, I ran into traffic and was afraid I’d miss the meeting. Thankfully, I got there just in time and was greeted with delicious Buskin bakery donuts and hot coffee. The meeting took about an hour and a half . I listened in on various items on the agenda and was even assigned a project. It was interesting to learn about all of the relationships CB has with other organizations. For confidentiality, I cannot share much with you all. However, it was great to sit in and learn and I look forward to attending the meetings every week!
Now, I’m off to work on my newly assigned project. 🙂
