I was told I have some great twitter skills and that I should write my blog about it. Since twitter happens to be a form of blogging, I’ll give this blogging about a blog a go.
I tend to get mixed feelings from friends about my twitter habits. Some compliment me and others make fun of me and proceed to unfollow. For all those ‘haters’ out there, I could care less. My twitter antics have given me some amazing experiences and offers.
As of right now, I am following 673 accounts and 605 are following me. I’d say that is a pretty good ratio. 500 to 100 would be a bit outrageous. Out of my 605 followers, over 10 are verified accounts. If you are new to twitter, the account has a blue check next to the name they are verified as the actual person or company. It takes a lot to get verified so mostly only celebrities or large companies are verified. TOMS Shoes, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Michael Pierce, Mike Posner, Machine Gun Kelly, Ryan Gosling, Andrew Zimmern, Teresa Giudice, Big Sean, and Aly and Aj Michalka are all verified accounts that follow me. I however, follow many verified accounts.

I absolutely LOVE twitter. If I think something, I usually tweet it. I have tweeted 10,023 times and by the time I post this that number will have most likely increased.
Twitter has helped me out in so many ways. First off, it has exempt me from taking a final exam because I got multiple celebs to tweet me back on how they use social media.
It has also offered me both of my internships. I had tweeted a top event planning company in Cincinnati, asking for advice for aspiring event planners. They tweeted back saying it was too long to tweet and so they gave me their email. In their email they not only sent me advice but also sent an offer to shadow a wedding, which has now turned into a fall internship.
Twitter lets you communicate with people who normally would be extremely hard to talk to otherwise. This social network has allowed me to get answers from some of these hard to reach people. It has also made it easier to set up interviews for my articles with interesting people. I just recently got in contact with Vitamin Water’s District Marketing Manager through twitter and we set up an event with her for PRSSA.
Twitter is the perfect place to network. I have made so many connections through this site. Daniel Weisman founder of Elitaste and Likeit.Fm, and a big name in the music business, has even offered to help me find Public Relations internships.
Now for the more fun stuff! Twitter has allowed me to have an hour-long ‘skype date’ with Mike Posner, get put on the guest list for the Kelley James/O.A.R and Big Sean concerts, and called up onto stage by Machine Gun Kelly. I could go on and on, but I tend to get extremely excited over the little things. I take a picture of every tweet a celebrity sends me.
My love for twitter is never-ending, and I’m sure you can see where it all stems from. Twitter is what you make out of it. Tweet every once and awhile and don’t follow anyone and you won’t bring in any benefits. A PR professional once told me, to be yourself on twitter because if a company doesn’t like who you really are, then why would you want to work for them?
